Myanmar cyclone

So.. I think I will use this "blog" for good. I'm sure most of you know about the cyclone that hit Myanmar last Friday. When the first news stories were released they predicted that the death toll would be about 10,000. As of today, officials are confirming 22,464 are dead and 41,000 are still missing. In a nutshell, approximately 1 million people who survived this disaster are now left homeless and living in miserable conditions :(

I have been thinking of a way to help these people since I heard about the disaster and have done some research. For every 100 dollars donated, an entire family will be provided with emergency food, clean water, blankets, temporary shelter, and cooksets. In addition, that donation will allow World Vision (a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty) to stay in Myanmar for much longer, rebuilding the community and the lives of the people affected by this catastrophe.

My goal is to raise 200 dollars. Since I am a poor college student, there is no way possible I can do this by myself, hence why I am writing this blog. It would be SUCH a blessing if any of you reading this could contribute in even the smallest way. I see many of you on a regular basis, and would love to collect ANY contribution you feel on your heart to give in person. However, for those of you who I don't see regularly, I will put a link at the bottom which allows you to give your own contribution through World Vision. If each person could contribute even 5 dollars, we could be such a help. I appreciate you taking the time to read this! Even if you are financially strapped, prayer is always a great way to help. Thanks again:)

Peace.
Megan

Matt Chandler talks about this and how The Village is helping in his sermon on "Missional-Living." Check it out on the Village's Podcast. I hope to donate soon.
